He then developed an unrivalled public sector career in business development; export trade and inward investment with regional development agencies in the North of England.
He now specialises in interim management,troubleshooting, problem solving and business support projects.
He has twice saved companies facing closure, solved supply chain and acute commercial problems for FMCG companies at senior management level by reducing inventories and carrying out detailed capability assessments of suppliers.
Archie is an experienced senior manager who enjoys mentoring, encouraging lateral thinking, and lectures on creativity in business to young entrepreneurs.
His expertise in sector and cluster development work has helped set up several organisations in the North East and West of England that are now globally recognised in the oil & gas, renewable energy and military related industries of the UK and specifically, multimodal logistics in Cumbria.
Attracting inward investment is his passion and during previous roles with development agency One NorthEast he has helped attract major projects to the UK from the USA, Europe and Asia Pacific.
He has detailed cultural knowledge of working in Eastern Europe and China having led several UKTI export trade missions to countries such as Poland, Russia, Turkey and China and built up a significant network of contacts in the British Embassies commercial staff around the world.
His most recent interim management role with Invest in Cumbria involved confidential investor development projects with the top 100 companies in the county contributing to creating/safeguarding 3,000 jobs.
His combined love of sport and the natural beauty of Cumbria led him to convince the organisers of the Great North Swim and NW regional partners that Lake Windermere was the ideal location for this iconic event, which has since brought millions into the Cumbrian economy.
Archie is resolute at adapting quickly to new and challenging situations with a tenacious ability to source diverse and new opportunities for any business or organisation.
